A live presentation by Gene Dattel and Delta-born African American Clifton Talbert about Dattel's growing up Jewish and Taulbert's growing up black in the Mississippi Delta in the 1950's. Taulbert was twice nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and won the N.A.A.C.P image award. He is also the author of the acclaimed Once upon a Time When we Were Colored. Parallel Lives toured the country from 1996 to 2004 with appearances at a variety of venues ranging from The Alabama Shakespeare Festival and Yale University to the Southern Jewish Historical Society and American Jewish Historical Society and Harlem schools.

Dattel was a contributing writer and cast member of Delta Rising!, an off Broadway production written and directed by Talvin Wilks and produced by Ping Chong & Company, which opened in May 2008 at BRIC Studio, Brooklyn, NY.
